The Crown Club at Barclays Center

In name and experience, it’s arguably one of the best in North America

As the WNBA pre-season got under way this week I wanted to take a moment to highlight one of my favorite club spaces in all of the WNBA venues across the country: The Crown Club at Barclays Center.

Opened in 2021, this 7,700-square-foot venue within a venue was conceived through a collaboration between the renowned Major Food Group and acclaimed designer Ken Fulk whose works of art include The Battery in San Francisco, Carbone in Miami, and Sadelle’s Las Vegas.

The cost of entrance? Purchasing a courtside seat at a New York Liberty game.

Is it worth it?  Absolutely.

From entrance to exit not a detail went overlooked.  The Crown Club offers its own speakeasy entrance; in which the glass door on the outside of the arena off Atlantic Avenue looks just like the rest, save for the tiny crown logo printed on its front.  The wall-papered staircase leading you into the belly of the arena exudes intimacy, building with each step down, and as if walking past the players’ locker rooms isn’t enough of an additional touch, you may find yourself shoulder to shoulder with a player as they’re walking from the locker room to the court.

Now once you actually find yourself inside the Crown Club you’re treated to several distinct rooms, each designed for a different experience.  The Lounge features velvet furnishings, antique mirrors and Venetian light fixtures which create a cinematic atmosphere erasing the realization that you’re in Brooklyn, in an arena, in which 18,000 people are currently above you finding their seats.

The Dining Room is tucked toward the back of the club partitioned off by additional curtains, in which you need to make a reservation prior to game day.  The food on offer?  Only some of the finest dishes Major Food Group has to offer including the staple of Carbone, the spicy rigatoni.

Lastly, make your way into The Pantry.  A whimsical, nostalgia-laced retreat where indulgence begins before tip-off, and where you might find yourself reaching for the same candy bar as Jason Sudeikis.  The shelves are lined with gleaming glass jars and tins filled with vibrant candies and artisanal chocolates for you to graze at will, or bring little goodie bags to your seat.

It’s a delicious reminder that at the Crown Club every detail is curated to surprise and delight.
